Bob's Assistant and Guide
Gerald Ivany will assist Bob this summer on the tours. Gerald loves to talk about the history of the area as well as the show guests the whales, puffins and icebergs. He is very much a traditional Newfoundlander and will amaze you with his tales about Trinity and the surrounding area.
He was was born and raised in
Port Rexton. His father was a blacksmith and his mother was a stay at
home mom, who tended to everything from drying the fish to taking care of
the vegetable gardens. His family lived off the land.
When he was 19, he went to work on the Great Lakes with
Upper Lakes Shipping, which he worked his way up to Deck Foreman. He worked
there until September 2011, when he retired. In 1975 he married his
beautiful wife, Darlene (Hicks) from Catalina. He and Darlene have 3 children and 4
grandchildren.
Gerald says: "I enjoy fishing, especially Cod fishing in Trinity
Bay in the summer. I spend my winters cutting firewood and ice
fishing. I enjoy riding ATV and keeping busy. I love the outdoors and
saltwater joys.
I love being a Tour Guide with Eco-Tours."
